What Will Shakeology Do For You?

Why I Drink Shakeology

The truth is you don’t care why I drink it, you care about what it will do for you. It is not a magic shake, but it is unique. If you drink your shakeology and are eating fast food and other junk then do not expect to feel much different.

If you are willing to replace one meal a day with Shakeology and cut out the other junk and even get on some sort of workout schedule you will lose weight and feel better.

Simply swapping out one meal a day will help you lose weight as well since you will most likely be in a calorie deficit.

What Is A Calorie Deficit?

  • At the end of the day losing or gaining weight is simple math. It all comes down to calorie deficit. This is why programs like weight watchers and other point type systems work. If you can keep your calories at a certain number and create the “deficit” you will lose weight.
  • So for example if you burn 2,000 calories a day and only eat 1,500 calories you have created a deficit of 500 calories. This deficit causes your body to use non-food sources for energy like body fat which creates weight loss. Ta da!
  • You may have heard that 3,500 calories is equal to about a pound of fat. Some agree, some disagree. I think it is a good ballpark to work with and if you look at that number then you would need a 500 calorie deficit everyday for a week to lose 1 lb of fat. Now that is real fat, not water weight, meal weight, or a big #2 weight 😉
  • Losing about 1-2lbs of fat a week is pretty healthy and something you should strive for if you are looking to really drop the weight.

How Does Shakeology Fit Into All Of These?

Again simple math…

  • Lets do this…. this can really vary, but let us look at an average lunch for most people going out to eat on lunch break.
  • Sandwich 350 – 500 Calories
  • Beverage.. soda, juice, coffee? 12 oz -20oz Can be anywhere from 140 – 400 calories “Diet drink? Ugh Please don’t, it is so bad for you!”
  • Chips? Cookie? 150-300 Calories
  • Again you can see how this varies, but on the low end you are looking at 640 calories and at the high end 1200 calories.
  • Shakeology? “Using Chocolate” By Itself 160 calories… Add 1 banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter it brings the total to 360 calories for your new healthy lunch!

So now you are looking at 360 calories vs 640-1200 calories. Not only are you cutting out wasted calories, but you are getting a power packed super food shake that will give you energy and leave you feeling ready to go, not ready for a nap.

So simply replacing that lunch everyday with Shakeology is going to help you lose weight, feel great, and get the nutrients your body needs.

  • Yes Azu definitely had a different experience from anyone I’ve ever spoken to. Knowing many friends and family who drink shakeology and have beach body programs that have nothing but positive experiences. I myself drink shakeology and train with beachbody. Never been in better shape – and shakeology is my favorite meal of the day.

  • While I use Shakeology and love it, as an RN and PhD Candidate I think it is very misleading for both Beachbody and yourself to represent it as “clinically proven”. Even one well-designed, rigorous study does not equal proof, and this is not a well-designed rigorous study! This is a small study, with a small sample size, no control group, no randomization, no blinding of either participants or assessors and an obvious conflict of interest. Additionally, I would say that very few “regular” Shakeology customers are replacing 2 meals a day with shakes! The reduction in calorie intake alone by using shakes as meal replacement could have been the cause of the weight loss, reduction in HbA1C and cholesterol. I am not saying it isn’t effective, I just think we should be careful about marketing it as a “magic pill” type of remedy for health issues. Using Shakeology as part of a healthy diet with exercise and adequate sleep makes sense. Touting it as the solution to all your health issues, does not.

    • Hey Margaret I agree about a “magic pill” it really comes down to hard work and consistency. All I can tell people is my experience. With Shakeology it has been a great one… and all I could say to people is try it… see how you like it and if it helps. If it doesn’t then return it for a refund.

      I wouldn’t say it is a solution to health issues, but that all depends what your issues are…

      I would say more people have had positive effects with it than negative. Appreciate your feedback and glad you are using it.

  • its horrible: Long story short. every month I had the worst PMS Mood swings, period cramps. Like I am dying on the floor seriously thought I had a miscarriage or something! I also gained 20lbs in 6 months. I only wanted a breakfast replacement and a way to workout indoors. I never needed to lose weight. I weighed 125 and gained like 10lbs in like 2 months. When I talked to my “coach” she said that I was not committed enough, exercising and eating properly. she totally shifted the blame on to me. When I had never had problems gaining weight since I learned to eat clean 5 years ago. it’s pretty messed up bc they get inside your head and try to tell you you’re not athletic or eat well enough. it didn’t work on me because I was already active and athletic and a super clean eater! Who ever is selling this CRAP either A. doesn’t give a hoot about people , or B. is completely blind. Although there are not ENOUGH bad reviews for this product and I can see why people MAY get confused and think its ok to sell. You all have been warned. Thanks for posting! I feel like i DESTROYED years worth of fitness to my body. It is no ones fault but mine. feel

    • Azu def sounds like you had a bad experience. Really cannot say I have ever heard anything like this, but hey everyone is different so I guess this was not for you. I also find it pretty hard to believe you used this for 6 months lol if it made you feel like this. I really like to approve all comments so it is not just “Rainbows & butterflies” around here, but I gotta say sounds a bit fishy to me. Regardless sorry you had a tough time. It is a good thing you are active and have been eating clean for 5 years!
