Tropical Strawberry Shakeology - Chalky Taste? Maybe? I Figured It Out

Tropical Shakeology

tropical strawberryTropical was the third flavor I ended up buying when I first started. I was not lucky to have the shakeology sampler available to try them all out at a lower cost.

When you see the tropical bag you think super fruity, but that is not the case. Tropical is also vegan so just be aware of that.

OK like I have said in other posts I like to try out any shake with just water/ice to test it out first. It took me about 3 tries to get tropical to a point I really enjoyed it.

First Try

  • I wanted to mix it with just ice and water to see how it tastes straight up. I have to be honest here. I did not like it. I mean I could drink it and it had a decent taste, but I did not like the texture or the chalky after taste. Yes it has a chalky after taste.  I was a bit upset since I figured this Tropical flavor was going to blow my mind.  Oh and I did not even finish it :-(

Second Try

  • After that first try I didn’t even go back to it for a week. I had actually ran out of my Chocolate Shakeology so I said OK lets try something different. This time I decided to toss in a banana as well as 2 clementines I had sitting around. This time it was definitely better, but that chalky aftertaste was still lingering. How do I get rid of it! Oh and I did finish about 3 quarters of it this time.

Third time is a Charm?

I then decided to try a new mix and see how it tasted. I had bought a few bottles of ZICO coconut water so I figured maybe that will help the chalk taste. I mixed up the powder, ice, a banana, and the coconut water. To my surprise it was so much better. Now there still is a bit of the chalky taste to it. I actually finished it and enjoyed it  and even wanted some more

So that for me was what made tropical taste better. We all have different tastes, but by using the coconut water I was adding cost to my drink. I still like to have it as a treat sometimes and will usually have it at night instead of ice cream.
